Uptime Policy

Last Updated: 15 October 2025

At Stableshift.net, we aim to provide reliable and consistent hosting services. This Uptime Policy explains our availability commitment and how uptime is measured.

1. Our Uptime Commitment

Stableshift.net targets 99.9% monthly network and server uptime for eligible hosting Services.

A 99.9% uptime target means that, in a 30-day month, the maximum allowable downtime is approximately 43 minutes and 12 seconds.

This uptime target applies to the Stableshift.net hosting infrastructure and does not guarantee that every individual website or application will be accessible at all times.

2. What Counts as Downtime

For purposes of this policy, downtime generally means a period during which the Stableshift.net hosting infrastructure is unavailable and customers cannot reasonably access their hosted services due to an issue within our infrastructure.

Downtime caused by a customer’s website, application, DNS configuration, account configuration or third-party service does not count as Stableshift.net infrastructure downtime.

3. Exclusions

The uptime commitment does not apply to downtime caused by circumstances outside Stableshift.net’s reasonable control, including:

  • Scheduled maintenance.

  • Emergency maintenance.

  • Customer-caused outages.

  • Incorrect DNS configuration.

  • Domain expiry.

  • Application or website errors.

  • WordPress, plugin or theme issues.

  • Customer code or configuration.

  • Excessive resource usage caused by the customer’s account.

  • Suspension due to non-payment.

  • Suspension due to violation of our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy.

  • DDoS attacks or other cyberattacks.

  • Internet backbone or upstream provider failures.

  • Data centre failures outside our reasonable control.

  • Third-party service outages.

  • Force majeure events.

  • Government action or legal requirements.

  • Problems caused by software, plugins or applications outside our control.

4. Scheduled Maintenance

We may occasionally perform scheduled maintenance to improve, secure or upgrade our infrastructure.

Where practical, we will provide advance notice of scheduled maintenance.

Scheduled maintenance does not count towards downtime under this policy.

Emergency maintenance may occur without advance notice when necessary to protect our infrastructure, customers or data.

5. Customer-Caused Downtime

Downtime caused by a customer’s website or account is not considered Stableshift.net infrastructure downtime.

Examples include:

  • Broken website code.

  • Database errors.

  • Incorrect WordPress configurations.

  • Plugin conflicts.

  • Theme problems.

  • Poorly configured applications.

  • Excessive website resource usage.

  • Incorrect DNS records.

  • Expired domains.

  • Customer-installed malware.

Stableshift.net may assist customers in identifying the cause of an issue, but technical support does not guarantee that third-party software will operate correctly.

6. Measuring Uptime

Uptime may be measured using internal monitoring systems and/or independent monitoring systems used by Stableshift.net.

Uptime calculations may differ from third-party monitoring services because monitoring locations, network routes, monitoring intervals and measurement methods can differ.

Stableshift.net’s monitoring records will be used as the primary reference when determining infrastructure uptime.

7. Uptime Credits

Unless a specific Service or order expressly includes an uptime SLA with service credits, the 99.9% uptime figure is a service target and does not automatically entitle customers to refunds or credits.

Where a particular Service includes an uptime credit guarantee, the applicable SLA for that Service will specify:

  • The qualifying uptime level.

  • The measurement period.

  • Eligible customers.

  • The credit amount.

  • Claim requirements.

  • Exclusions.

8. Reporting an Outage

If you believe your Service is unavailable, please contact Stableshift.net support as soon as possible.

When reporting an outage, please provide:

  • Your domain name.

  • Your hosting account details.

  • The approximate time the issue started.

  • A description of the problem.

  • Any relevant error messages or screenshots.

This information helps us investigate the issue more quickly.

9. Maintenance and Improvements

Stableshift.net may periodically upgrade hardware, software, networking, security systems and other infrastructure.

These improvements may occasionally require temporary service interruptions.

We aim to minimise disruption and, where practical, perform maintenance during periods of lower traffic.

10. No Guarantee of Website Performance

The 99.9% uptime target applies to the availability of our hosting infrastructure and does not guarantee:

  • Website loading speed.

  • Search engine rankings.

  • Website performance.

  • WordPress performance.

  • Application compatibility.

  • Email deliverability.

  • Third-party service availability.

  • A specific amount of website traffic.

  • A specific level of CPU, RAM or database performance.

Website performance depends on many factors outside the control of Stableshift.net.

11. Policy Changes

Stableshift.net may update this Uptime Policy from time to time.

Any updated version will include a revised “Last Updated” date.
